Wilson Phillips has got to be in there. They faded fast, but had three #1 hits in that time.
Are the Bangles and the Go-Go's up for consideration? What about the Dixie Chicks? How wide are we casting this girl group net?

Groups, not bands - so all those girls who did silly things like play their own instruments and write their own lyrics/music are OUT.

If I/we were to do this, the lineups would have to be:
The UK: Bananarama, Eternal, The Spice Girls, All Saints, Atomic Kitten, Sugababes, Girls Aloud, The Saturdays, Little Mix ... and debating between B'Witched/Misteeq/The Nolan Sisters
The US: The Supremes, The Ronettes, The Pointer Sisters, TLC, SWV, En Vogue, Destiny's Child ... and then a LOT of competition for the last three slots.
Basically it's The Shangri-las/The Crystals/Martha & the Vandellas/LaBelle/The Three Degrees/Sister Sledge/Expose/Wilson Phillips/The Pussycat Dolls. Am I forgetting anyone big?

I have never heard of these people.

Wait. I have heard of "Sister Sledge" before. Are they lesbians? I feel like I've heard that. But surely we've had more popular/well known girls groups, right?
EDIT: I googled, they aren't lesbians. One of them looks like Claire Huxtable. Anyway, I kinda feel like there'll be a lack of participants with all of these groups from the 60s&70s. You know the girls aren't here for anything pre-1990 unless it's Madonna. And omg I didn't even realize you had that cute little "LaBelle" slipped in there. Of course, I know my grandmother Patti's group.

Sister Sledge are four sisters.
Legit go to Wikipedia. You've likely heard songs from all of these groups.

Someone really needs to host a rate centered around modern urban music. The "Body Party's", the "Pour It Up's" and the "Worst Behavior's" really need their time to shine.
Edit: That'd actually be a cute lil megarate. The heavyweights [Chris, Trey, Bey, Drake, J. Cole, Miguel etc], with a few add in's from the newbies [Kid Ink, Jhene, Sevyn etc]. Also a rate between the mixtape girls needs to happen. Cassie V Tinashe V Jhene V Sevyn V SZA maybe? Idk.

Is this girl group mega rate going to be one for UK and one for the US or a combination, like a UK vs US rate?

I am going to be adding some data to the 1D rate next week. Don't worry.... it is just temporary. I wanted to post and discuss it before, but I have been too busy.

You forgot Queen of R&B Kelela.
I'm sorta using those for a rate titled "New Wave of R&B" in the future if approved, but it's just their singles not mixtapes.

This is so messy.
I mean the way I get denied like Dionne Warwick's credit card
when half of these girls can't even make it halfway into their rates.
The unprofessionalism. Girl...

So, in terms of single rates ...
The MJ and DP rates will end this week. Once they're done, Avril and Dixie Chicks will go. Once the Nicki rate is done, it's time for another classic rate! I'm thinking Whitney.

How far in advance can a rate be reserved?
Lets say you wanted to reserve one for an artist, but their next album might not come out for a year or two and you would rather do it after that. Could you?

Six months would probably be the over/under.
