Bedtime Stories is beyond overrated (but then so is Erotica, truly one of her worst albums, but a big fan favorite--a moment where you have to separate quality from sentimental attachment). ROL is the only one there that belongs on a 'best of' list imo, even if AL is also top 3 for me.

It has a bad rep because it dared to say things that most wouldnt in popular music. No one wants to hear a woman, yet alone a celebrity, sing and "rap" about the injustices of the government/war or America in general. But yes, its a great album. It might be considered one of Madonna's worst albums, but it still takes a thousand ***** on most of the current pop girls best albums.

You cannot be serious.... Music really wasnt very good outside of the singles, and MDNA and Hard Candy were so out of date and just... crap

"American Life" was the least time Madonna was TRULY relevant (at least in the US).

Now before you say, "But COADF!!!! Hung Up was #1 in 193 countries!!!". Think about it, when was the last time Madonna got everybody talking? And no the Superbowl DOESN'T count! We all know it was 2003/2004 with the whole controversy over AL and that VMA performance. The controversy of AL was so big that radio here didn't touch "Hung Up". I remember there being a petition being spread online to end the boycott because "Sorry" flopped here.

It was an exaggeration, Erotica is definitely in the middle. I just roll my eyes/gag a little when people call it her best album. I feel like that's a slap in the face to her legacy as the seminal POP star. Erotica is a favorite, and I get it. But just because it's strange and memorable (iconic!) doesn't mean it's a musical triumph. It places artistry and image over musical pleasure.
