I think the reason why HWR won't let her tour down here is because of how it would turn out; I think they're afraid that the AUS/NZ concerts might not do well ticket-sales wise, but NZ stans hard for Demi so I think it'll do well if she comes to our country. I don't know about Australia though cus I don't live there.

She really only performs Stop the World if Nick is there. Otherwise I think she's done it at soundcheck but not solo during any of the actual concert performances. So it's only happened during a concert maybe 5 times?

She mentioned vocal lessons in her pre-tour prep stuff so I thought she has an awareness maybe things aren't quite right. Not sure we can really tell how they worked out because she's basically been sick ever since. I've wondered for awhile if it just takes a full year to truly fully recover from a tonsillectomy, especially if you're not a little kid.

I don't think Selena leaving will make that much of a difference for their income. It's not like they'll go bankrupt without her. Judging from her high profile promotion, videos etc etc I assume she constituted for much of their budget so if it's true that she's leaving, they can cut down on their budget + invest more on Demi who is arguably more profitable.

Also, Demi seems to be having more control over her career lately and seems to play an important role in her career decision making unlike before. I really do believe (or like to believe) that she is not as mistreated by HWR anymore. We are just used to always blaming the label for anything and everything.

First, Selena is not leaving. From that registered song, she's only a writer, not the performer, and the publishing company listed on it is her own publishing co. + warner bros is the label for the other writer. No one has ever said Selena and Demi signed a 4-album contract, it's only speculations. It might be 5... who knows.

Second, I agree with Liana, HWR is not poor, they have the money and they will give Demi higher budget is Selena leaves (which is highly doubtful).

With Demi said in various interviews about she knows the direction of her album and she's excited for it, anyone can tell that she has more control over her music, which is good, then HWR will actually be supporting her this time. With more power, she can actually demand more budget for herself. D5 might be the "break-out" she needed.

As soon as her album sales slipped & her tour was cancelled they couldn't drop her album campaign sooner and instead they put all their time & resources into Demi instead. Whilst that's good for Demi in the short term, it just shows that they aren't dedicated to the development of their artists, but only in who will get them a quick hit.

It seems that way now, but without Selena that would mean that they're completely dependant on Demi so they would make her record an album full of generic hits instead of whatever she wanted

I agree. I still feel like she could be treated MUCH better... without complaining too much i can still honestly say there were some things they could EASILY have done better, but i can also say they've made some good moves.

They just STILL need to work on how to use momentum and their sloppy album release for her. But the most important part is that she gets creative control so whatever she puts out actually feels genuine and not just some average product.
I'm really glad that after all this time she's finally taking her videos more seriously and doesn't let others decide for her

Well to be fair... that has happened WITH Selena being on the label...

I'm sure if Demi renewed her contract she was aiming for more control over her career which can only help her in the long run, but we'll see anyway...

It's from Walt Disney records who are a division of Disney Music Group just like HWR, but DMG won't use WDR's income to fund HWR if that money can be used elsewhere with better results

Right, Frozen's Soundtrack isn't published by HWR.


All of the Marvel movie's soundtracks are though. The Avengers, Iron Man, Thor, etc.
All blockbusters, but I doubt anyone buys the soundtrack of those movies though

I wish we had a clearer view of what Demi's contract with HWR looks like exactly While I do agree that they've been improving (I still hate them for ****ing up MITUSA so I won't give them too much credit) I still believe Demi will be much better off with a bigger/more credible label. even in terms of getting Grammy nominations someday, HWR doesn't increase her chances..people can deny it all they want but if your label is more credible that increases your chances of getting nominations or even winning. And besides there's just a world of amazing producers/writers that could collaborate with Demi but I doubt HWR can provide much of that for her either
