Bigbang is one of the most boring performers in kpop history. I think if they weren't from YG and didn't have that much success, people wouldn't stan them.
Even T-ara queens and their loud backing track > them.
tbh BB is boring to watch most of the time. Buuuuut their discography is head and shoulders above everyone else's, so it really doesn't matter.
In terms of personal preference, I place SHINee above all other male groups except DB5K. They're the kind of performers I love - technically skilled, sharp, dynamic, and charismatic. And I love their music. Top tier excellence tbh.

wait what
BIGBANG were the ones who made YG huge. lol
Was their a choreo actually better, or at least more inventive, than Everybody in 2013? I beg to differ.

If I'm being honest, I don't think Big Bang has that strong a discography. Not compared to others, anyway. But I guess that's just my opinion. I've found their solo discographies much more enjoyable. At least Seungri's and Taeyang's.

Well both Seungri and Taeyang have like 12 songs each so I wouldn't call that a discography.
Comparing SHINee to Big Bang is as pointless as comparing SNSD to 2NE1. Two entirely different groups, two entirely different styles.
Big Bang are great at utilizing the full stage and really getting the crowd involved, which is somehow coded as "running and screaming" by some. Even a performance like this which is very freeform has inherent structure and choreography to it that is inarguable.
SHINee and TVXQ are impressive and the best at what they do, but it's all very inward focused and tight (which is what makes it so good) rather than projecting outwards towards the audience (which is what makes Big Bang so good). Like I said, two totally different styles.

I always cringe when people say they just run and scream on stage.

basically a LM.com equivalent for Kpop stars.
Some of them are actually ran by their own labels (and sometimes the idols leave a post) and some of them are unofficial.

I totally agree with (most of) this. Though Fantastic Baby is one of their more structured songs, performance-wise, they do a great job with it.
When I said "running and screaming" in reference to GD and Taeyang I really only meant it in reference to them, not the whole group. And they don't even do it in every performance, just...more than they should, imo. It's a matter of personal opinion - I like watching performances to see a display of skill and to be moved somehow, either by reverence or emotion, and Big Bang don't really do that. So I like SHINee more. I don't think Big Bang are bad performers. They're great, but their lack of technical ability is really highlighted when compared to even the most basic of structured performances from other random groups, be it SHINee or nugus or whatever.
It's part of YG's whole Westernization schtick, since choreography isn't big in the Western scene for pop performers. I'm not faulting BB for it; just making observations. Like you said, different styles. It doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't compare them, though.
