It’s undeniable: Jackson spent his entire solo career repeating his own music, the same formula over and over again. His catalog is musically limited. What’s amazing about singing the same music and performing them the same way for 20 years? Madonna, at the peak of her fame and commercial success (with the Blond Ambition) was transitioning into her Erotica Era! That is what’s called a real artistic and creative risk! Madonna has always created different ways of expressing herself while poking the society at the same time.
People mistake their personal taste with reality. For those who disagree with the fact that Madonna is far superior to Michael Jackson, argue this:
Rock With You, Beat it, Thriller, Billie Jean, Bad, Smooth Criminal, Remember the Time, Black or White, You Rock My World… they are all great, but no one can deny they all sound the same (and these are songs from 1979 to 2001). In comparison, Madonna’s delivered Lucky Star, Into the Groove, Papa Don’t Preach, La Isla Bonita, Like a Prayer, Vogue, Erotica, Secret, Ray of Light, Music - you can’t get a catalog richer than that.
Madonna’s body of work is endlessly superior to Michael Jackson’s. Let their music speak for itself.
