serious answer: as far as musical influence, janet is by far the most influential female of the past 30 years bar madonna (one could argue she's more influential musically than madonna but let me hold my tongue ) culturally, bey is more impactful than janet ever was

But that's the thing though just because some cite you as an influence does not mean you exceed the other. It's more than that Janet has contributed way more to the progression of music than both of those girl's combined. And despite doing nothing since 2001 her blueprint is heavily followed and drawn from. That's why i'm kinda laughing that people think that Beyonce has exceeded janet when this is the question in the OP
