If you're looking for strictly a political show then you're not gonna find it in The Good Wife. It's more of a legal show with political tie ins than a pure "political show". The show centres around Alicia and her law firm, with her politician husband as a subplot.

The last half of season 4 leading into the first half of season 5... season 5 episode 5 "Hitting The Fan"... woo lawd.

Yeah, but action doesn't necessarily translate into quality and the fifth season benefitted a lot from literally everything you were waiting for five years finally happening.
