holyground's "nostalgia" trinity
Ahhhh sweet sweet nostalgia. It's so bittersweet, it makes us wistful and sentimental. But it's not like it's bad, though in the 17th and 18th Century, nostalgia was thought to be a disease. Thank god it's not regarded as such anymore, and now we can just enjoy the beauty, emotions and joy of our past.

Take on Me
a-ha you're all the things I've got to remember, you're shying away, I'll be coming for you anyway
This song is pretty timeless in my opinion, I thought it was released in the 90s, and not forgetting that even Legend X covered it. That iconic riff really takes you somewhere else. About the video, I guess it was pretty amazing at that time (1985). Action-packed and merging cartoon graphics with real life, it's still be pretty stunning today. It slayed the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards too, with 6 wins.
90s
Ray of Light
Madonna "and i feel, like i just got home, and i feel"
Another timeless song. Her vocals in the chorus are just so ethereal. If this was released today it would've been hailed as fresh tbh. Even though I was just born a few years before the release of this song, somehow I remember that this song was a huge part of my childhood and it really brings me back to the carefree and simple days. The video won Video of the Year at the 1998 VMAs. The video is just various time-lapse clips of various scenes in life, yet somehow it's such a breathtaking video for some reason.

Hey Ya!
OutKast "shake it, shake it like a polaroid picture"
Let's be honest, in 50 years time when this song gets played, it would not fail to make people get on their feet and start bopping away. This is just such a huge huge huge bop and for those who grew up with this song, it would not fail to bring you back to the early 2000s. This video also won Video of the Year in 2004. The video is simple, yet just makes you feel happy. Every band member was played by Andre 3000, and everything about this song plus the video just brings about such intense carefree joy.

The #Throwback Trinity
ᴄʟɪᴄᴋ ᴛʜᴇ ᴘɪᴄᴛᴜʀᴇ ᴛᴏ sᴇᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴏʀʀᴇsᴘᴏɴᴅɪɴɢ ᴠɪᴅᴇᴏ
Each of the videos included in the trinity contain a throwback (or throwbacks) to moments of pop culture / general culture of yesteryear. Included are throwbacks to the 60s and the movie Grease, throwbacks to prominent women of color throughout history, and a throwback to one of the biggest hit movies of the 90s.
RACISM NO DOUBT - LOOKING HOT
This music video was removed by the band the day after it's release due to a highly negative reaction from the general public. The video caused controversy because of it's stereotypical representation of a Native American, specifically Gwen's scenes. Along with the removal of the video, No Doubt released an apology stating how the video was not meant to be hurtful. The American Indian Studies Center said that the video was "rife with imagery that glorifies aggression against Indian people, and, most disturbingly, denigrates and objectifies Native women through scenes of sexualized violence."
RELIGION MADONNA - LIKE A PRAYER
What would a 'Most Controversial Music Videos' list be without the most controversial popstar of all time, Madonna Louise Ciccone? In the video, Madonna is a witness of a black girl's murder by white supremacists, and while a black man is being arrested for the crime, she hides in a church contemplating whether or not to go forth as a witness of the murder. The video wouldn't be complete without the infamous scenes of Ku Klux Klan-esque cross burning. The Vatican, of course, condemned the video. Religious families protested against the video and boycotted Pepsi, the product she just got an endorsement with and would quickly lose because of this video's controversy. Apart from all of the negativity this video created, it proved that Madonna was a smart businesswoman who knew how to market herself.
MURDER M.I.A - BORN FREE
This video is arguably the most controversial video out of the three; it even has its own Wikipedia page! It depicts a genocide against red-haired people, and it was filmed without the approval from M.I.A's record label(s). The graphic military hating clip had some positive critical reception, but for the most part, it was hated by viewers internationally because of the explicit material the video portrays. It was removed from YouTube a day within its posting, and all of the other uploads were either removed as well or restricted to 18+. M.I.A commented on this removal stating that it was ridiculous to remove a fictional movie showing murder when the same site allows uploads of real murder.

Musickid's Story Trinity
Chris Brown f/ Justin Bieber - Next to You
Nicki Minaj - Your Love
R. Kelly - Trapped in the Closet (Ch. 1)
Tymps.

The Socialites - Dirty Projectors
Shows isolation, how ugly one can feel and (at end) how one person's ugly is outstandingly beautiful to another.
The String of Everything - Mariam the Believer
Mariam literally consumes knowledge (bean) and is changed by it. Note smile at end, Mariam is glad to learn something new and die someone else.
sever - iamamiwhoami
Most symbolic of all. In my opinion about relationship once simple taken turn for worse that can't be escaped. Carpet monster has Jonna trapped (dancing, blinds, asylum-like structure). Much more symbolism in video.
Both song and video are response to the backlash Michael Jackson received from the media in 1993 due to the child sexual abuse accusations. Janet Jackson wanted to be involved with the project as a show of sibling support. The production cost of the video was over $7 million, making it one of the most expensive videos of all time
Madonna - Vogue
One of Madonna's most iconic songs/videos. Even tho It was released +20 years ago, we can still see its impact in recent times. (See: Lady Gaga - Alejandro). The choreography, the outfits and everything was perfect.
Beyoncé - Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)
It's a very simple video, but that didn't stop it to become a phenomenon. Many artists have made their own version, from Joe Jonas to Justin Timberlake.
Yeah sorry I outstayed my welcome with my late submissions or whatever. I was being a bit too ambitious trying to keep this up whilst going from a week on a busy school trip abroad to a school play and I've now got the flu as well as exams starting from Monday. I thought I would have had time to this, or else I would have quit earlier and not been a pest and unfairly taken someone one's place, but I expected to get back into the game.
But the flu is a bitch and once it hits there's nothing you can do.
