Troy was great, but I don't think he was suited for who Gaga is today. I really do think a lot of people, myself included, blamed her for her disasters and I still maintain the idea that Gaga had a helping hand in destroying herself; the thing is she was probably told to hold back. Gaga isn't the same young unknown woman she once was when she started out (clearly!). She's older and knows a lot more now than she did then. I say she's in the right lane to do what she wants as long as she stands by it and makes it about quality.
ARTPOP is a defensive album made to please everyone, but that isn't what Gaga wanted nor is what she should have done. I am eager to see if Gaga can actually manage to pull off a body of work going off her inner most instinct, which I am guessing her next work is about.
