Lol at people using the "atrl has lots of monsters" excuse. You know that ALOT have jumped shipped and Katy got ALOT of fans over the past 7 months and YET Gaga is winning the poll.
ARTPOP is not a perfect record by any means, but I think Prism is genuinely the kind of boring that im surprised so many people give a second look at. I'd understand if Katys popularity and recognition was as successfully understated as P!nk's or Kelly Clarksons since I see them all as essentially the same artist, but for some reason people try to spin Katys concoctions as iconic just because theyre popular and I listen to her albums and I have to ask why? What is it that some of you hear? I mean...theres just nothing really there. Not even a glimpse of soul and promise, just manufactured cliches.
Thats not to say Gaga isn't manufactured at all or that shes just so substantial and unique, but even at her most trite theres a soul underneath all the pop production and messiness. Theres an ambition to make something more and you can hear it no matter how commercial. I like to listen to music thats not boring and I like pop music thats not just catchy but cool and while Gaga may not get the cool part down with every single track, theres always aspects to her songs that make her special and I like the kind of music she takes influence from. Katy doesn't deliver anything thats not just taken off the shelf and while I feel that has its place, I can't imagine why anyone would put plain trite-ness above someone thats clearly more interesting even when trite.
But before any of you get up in arms about anything I just said, this is only my opinion. Its not a direct dig at anyone that likes Katy Perry or prefers her.

Not to mention bashing her is the "in" thing to do right now. I can assure you if Katy was in that same situation she wouldn't be selling too well either. Your logic just doesn't hold up. I know you're trying to get a cheap dig in at ARTPOP but come on. So every album that Prism has outsold in the history of music is an album of lesser quality? And every album that has sold more is automatically better? Please. And how can we say everyone who has bought Katy's album is satisfied with it anyway? The album surely hasn't received rave reviews.
