Right. There's plenty of **** that we, as black people, do that we deserve to get dragged for. We're quick to call it racism when a white person points it out, but in reality, it's sometimes it's the truth. I, personally, don't participate in the coonery that I see going on every single day, but therein lies one of the problems in itself. When I refuse to be a part of this ratchet movement that's currently going on, I get criticized for being stuck up and thinking I'm better than them. Why is it a problem that often in the black community the ones that are actually trying to make a difference and have our race perceived in a positive light are often frowned down upon? Why is it that if we're not glorifying people like Lil Boosie and instead praise influential black leaders it's a problem. In fact, why is there such an absence of black leadership today? Don't get me wrong there are some that just aren't talked about enough, but when comparing today and the past there's a notable decline.

Yeah yeah that's great about disproving stereotypes at all, but I just don't care for the idea of us HAVING to put on for the White man.

Negroes are not unique in their poverty, uneducation, ratchetness....or cultural brilliance and historical importance. It's just the White man who thinks we're the worst and makes us believe we are the worst.

I'm all for self-improvement, but if I like to sag my pants, listen to Chief Keef or whateva, and speak improperly, then that is who I am and I shouldn't have to change for the racist White man. The racist White man should change his VIEW for me.

That is ALSO true, however, as long as you intellectually better yourself there is no problem. The issue we have is that many young black people (especially males) do not do this, and unfortunately perpetuate the stereotypes (which were set up/created about them) as opposed to turn them on their heads with education and life results. We all can be as rachet as we want, but the issue is we also have to ensure that we're not just being rachet and ghetto, but also understand the value of education and goal setting.

Then there is also the issue of us black folk not being one monolithic culture/hivemind.
