i think it's pretty clear PRISM is the better album.
on production, i'll give it to ARTPOP, the album is really well-produced with interesting stuff going on.
neither of them have perfect lyrics, but katy's are in a different league on PRISM than gaga's are on ARTPOP (every song has at least one cringe-inducing lyric, if not more, whereas katy has only improved). plus, katy's songs show depth and are personable, everyone can relate to them. gaga/ARTPOP, on the other hand, is pretentious, shallow, and not personal or relateable.
i give gaga a hand for doing what she wants (haha) and releasing an album she wanted probably knowing some people would hate it, and even though it's kind of a bad album, she still was proud of it. it's certainly more fun and more enjoyable than PRISM.
but PRISM showed artistic advancement and it was a pretty deep, mature record compared to TD. neither album is perfect, but whereas gaga's quality overall declined, katy's only improved. PRISM is in album you listen to and enjoy, but sort of relate to and think about your life with. gaga's, on the other hand, is a shallow, meaningless pop album you run to.

And I can't believe people are saying that ARTPOP's lyrics are shallow. They are not her best, but def not shallow.

uh
literally, the only "substantial" or deep/meaningful songs on the record are Aura (and that's a reach), Do What U Want, Swine, Dope, and Gypsy. then there are four songs just about sex ( aka, not shallow), and then random, strange songs (J&D, AP, Donatella, Fashion!, MJH, Applause) that are definitely not "deep".
i love the album, every song, but lezz be real, ARTPOP is a shallow album

You're being selective. You're saying PRISM shows depth and maturity while ignoring songs like International Smile, This Is How We Do, Birthday...
And you're saying ARTPOP is shallow and not relateable while ignoring songs like Dope, Swine and Gypsy.

ARTPOP is the better album sonically for me, I like Prism lyrically. Overall, I'll say ARTPOP.

2-3 songs won't change the whole album

Yeah, as long as we're making things clear - this is only an opinion. Mine is different. Let's just leave it at that.

precisely this. whereas katy has 2-3 "immature" fun songs on the record, gaga has more than half of the album like that.
katy has 1 sexual song. half of ARTPOP is about sex, which makes it a very shallow album.
katy does a great job, especially on PRISM, of making fun songs that are still really relateable, personable, sometimes even meaningful.
example, TIHWD is obviously not a deep song, but it's personable. it's all about her life in a really fun way with very specific, vivid antidotes. fun and immature, maybe. but honest and her life? yes.
can you say the same for the vast majority of immature songs on ARTPOP? what do we learn about gaga's life from the album? Venus, GUY, Sexxx Dreams, manicure--all meaningless songs about sex. and then Fashion and Donatella are just fun songs, but there's horribly, horribly written. the lyrical quality is abysmal.
that's the only point i'm trying to make.

that's fine, but you also could explain why you think it IS a deep album. not that you have to, but i gave some pretty valid reasoning as to why it's super shallow

ARTPOP, people who are choosing Prism are being sold cheap cringeworthy bland obviously contrived music. But I guess if that's what they want in their life.

Okay, I understand your points. I'd hesitate to call TIHWD about Katy's life since she's 29 but regardless, I do agree that Artpop is a pretty shallow album up until the last few songs, and this is a problem a lot of her fans have had with it considering how amazing her first 3 albums were lyrically.
I still think Artpop is a much more impressive album because of what it manages to do sonically. But I think this is a pretty lame comparison overall cause we're comparing Gaga at her worst to someone who isn't really an album artist period. Both albums are mixed bags and I don't think either one will be very well remembered
