Exactly.
The only other soundtrack songs that have been huge hits in recent years were It Will Rain, Let it Go, A Thousand Years & Happy.
It Will Rain was somewhat helped by the hype of Breaking Dawn, but ultimately the song just caught on based on Bruno and his massive airplay appeal. Most people don't think of Twilight when it comes to It Will Rain. Whereas A Thousand Years's success is more tied to Twilight than IWR, since it got less airplay and was featured in a key scene iirc. ATY caught on and sold on its own, but the movie did more to help it out imo.
Skyfall's success is because Adele was a perfect match for Skyfall and the song is an epic compliment to the feel of the film. People like it for that. The movie + Adele's slayage = great sales and great acclaim.
Let it Go is based entirely on Frozen's success, obviously, while Happy's success has next to nothing to actually do with Despicable Me 2.
Hope this makes sense.
