Thanks for all of the love and support. I am fine (or I will be fine... still feel like ****) and home now. Anyone who knows me knows that I periodically end up hospitalized because I have Sickle Cell Anemia. So it was nothing out of the ordinary really except me having a severe allergic rxn to penicillin.
Nonetheless, thank you to Clark, Vespertine, Harmonic Dreamer, Doc, and Jay for taking this thing under their wings. I don't know where we stand right now, but I'm assuming there will be an elimination soon so the best of luck.
I'm about to start compiling all the votes, commentary and whatnot, will probably have the elimination in ~30 min! If you wanted to vote, now is your last chance guys!

You started off a bit pitchy, I have to say. I get the feeling that it was just nerves though, as you really got into it towards the middle. Your tone is wonderful, it's strong, clear, and soulful. I was slayed by your vibrato on some of those big notes towards to end. Beautiful, really. Loved it.
A nice performance overall, but there was a certain X-Factor missing for me. Just a little bit of spice that could take it THERE. Wait though, I'm typing this up as I listen and you just slayed the second half of the song! Great work, I just needed to hear that in the first half (where I thought the vibrato was a bit too overwhelming), too.
Me likey! Came off a bit Broadwayish, but that's not bad. Your vocals were very good. Actually, it's not Broadway, more like soul/blues. Great job!
Fantastic tone, impressive control as well! 1:30 is heaven! Standing ovation. Nitpicky note: You should hold back on your vibrato more when you're beginning. If you deploy it too often right from the start, it can be a bit much. You also enunciate like a musical theatre person, which worked great for this song, but can sound too overdramatic for others. Be careful!

I gotta say, it got a little pitchy here and there. However, I felt like you really got into the song. You expressed the emotion behind the lyrics well. You had me groovin! There were some vocal highlights, particularly around the middle, but overall, I just don't feel that this was your best vocal.
I'll be honest, I think you've sung a lot better in previous rounds. I loved that you were totally feeling the song, though.
Stevie may be blind, but that mother****a sure can sing. Loved the arrangement, and you have a very similar tone to him so for a moment I had to remember it wasn't the original. It was a bit whiny at times, but overall good!
Good attempt, but just not there for me, sorry buddy. It was a really tough and high choice, and it just didn't sound /like it was the part of your voice you're the most comfortable in. I avoid my upper register entirely so I don't really have specific advice for you on how to improve, but keep at it!

There was so much energy in your vocals, and that came across well and positively as a listener. I loved your audience interaction, it was almost pro. You killed the last song, that was probably my favorite part. The vocals were not perfect, but I just respond very well your energy. Good job!
Medleys are always a bit sketchy to me, but when they're done right, they can be heaven. Loved it! Your crowd interaction was a lot of fun, you're always so creative with these themes (and you did a great job showing how diverse and beautiful this week's theme is). That being said, I don't think this was your best vocal ever; I just know how damn well you can sing and expected a little bit more.
Once again, you show your originality and versatility. You encompassed the whole broad spectrum of what is R&B and I loved every single second. "Standing O"
You've got a really nice tone, but you shake a bit too much and it makes you sound nervous on the two slower songs in the medley. The sing-talking for the second song was cute, but you need to sell it a bit more when it's not vocally challenging. More ad-libs. Oh hey yes reference king Kanye good job. Your mock-crowd interactions are super cute. You sound far more confident talking than singing. Know you've got a great voice and own it. Don't give up or be discouraged because your tone is really nice, especially in your lower register. If you haven't sung much R&B you should do more. Find some good baritone songs and practice on getting control over that part of your voice.

I love a good acapella. You stayed on pitch the entire time, and that isn't easy on a song like this. You delivered well. The one thing I would say is to work on adding more emotion into your performance. While you're giving a good vocal, I want personality.
Beautiful vocals as always, your tone never fails to amaze. I agree with Doc though; it needed just a bit more oomph to bring it there for me.
You finally got to do some Aaliyah and you did her justice! I was bopping without an instrumental. Amazing.
Hmmmmm, mixed feelings here. I think it's a great unique song choice, and I love the IDEA of it, but your tone just doesn't fit the way you approached the song. Aaliyah had that very soft and airy tone, and your tone has a little more smoke to it. You trying to approach it like Aaliyah just doesn't quite work out. A more confident, steady, and demanding approach to this could have sounded more interesting and made it a more convincing cover. Sometimes you've got to flip the song a bit instead of just covering when you change the gender/voice part.

This upsets me because your voice is so beautiful, so much potential, but you delivery is literally void of emotion. You can't sing this song without bringing in the FEELING of the lyrics. These lyrics are painful, and the singer needs to express this. There was just too much disconnect. Again though, you have a wonderful voice. But I really needed more from this.
Well this is quite different for you! What a nice surprise. I see where Doc and Yoncé are coming from with their comments, but I also think there's something to be said about delivering a song like this quite somberly. I really enjoyed this performance.
DF did all that soul come from!? I about died. This was amazing! I felt you singing to me. You did something different, stepped outside your boundaries and it paid off.
Good, but uneventful. When you've got a song with a fairly repetitive melody like this in a competition, you've got to do a bit more with it. I'm not saying go full Xtina and put runs everywhere, but take some liberties and and change it up a bit. It can help to have a studio version of the song and "harmonize" by singing along to a different part (piano, guitar, etc.) and using that as the lead melody in your cover.

I'm slayed! THIS is what I'm talking about–the combination of wonderful vocals with emotional delivery. Your voice is speaking to my soul. Those belts are flawless, there's so much conviction and confidence. I don't even know what to say. You KILLED it. Standing ovation. The other girls better watch out.
Well damn! I got the impression that this week was a bit out of your comfort zone, but you did an absolutely stunning job taking this song and make it fit your style. Love your passion. Nothing else to say, tbh.
Bitch, you better sing that ****! All Of Me is one of my favorite songs at the moment. It exudes so much emotion and you took it there... and back.
Nice power, projection, and enunciation! A bit pitchy at points, but you made it sound good and your confidence is fantastic. Falsetto could use a bit of work, but also a very good attempt there. You've got a great rock/indie-rock voice, and probably the best voice for pop in the competition. Very expressive, I like the "gritty" sound you have on some words, for lack of a better term. Keep it up!

Thank you everybody! I'm sorry if it seemed I didn't sound as best as I could! I'm keeping all your suggestions, thanks again!
Nait, chile! For what it's worth...I really liked your performance!
Who do I sound like? Like what artist do I remind you of vocally? Who do you think is an obvious vocal influence of mine?
Did you get asked this question by somebody? Because the producers of The Voice asked me this question and I didn't know the answer either. I might be misinformed but I can't think of anyone who has a similar voice to me anyway

It's time for 90s Week! Now I don't want to hear ANY of you complain that you can't think of a good song, because 1990-1999 is literally one of the most diverse (and amazing) periods of music ever in my eyes. You can do anything from grunge to teen pop to R&B to third-wave ska to rap to electronic music to... the possibilities are endless.
Ideally I'd like for you all to have your entries in by Tuesday, March 11 so that we can get the commentary and scoring done again for a Wednesday elimination. If that will be a problem for anyone, please let me know and I can extend it

Hmmm, I'm really not sure for either of you!
But tbh I always hate that on singing competitions, when the person is like "oh people tell me I sound JUST LIKE a mix of Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, and Aretha Franklin!" and they're actually really terrible... (though obviously both of you are very good singers )
