Wait, SNSD already releases 3 albums in Japan?
mmmmm
The second one is also a BOP. TOP, Animal, Reflection, All My Love Is For You, Girls & Peace, Paparazzi >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I admit that the third one is a mess
The third was of lesser quality than the other two, but it was still better than at least half of their Korean discography tbh. Galaxy Supernova, Lips, Karma Butterfly, Motorcycle, Do The Catwalk, and Flyers>>>>>>>>>>

Not you dissing their Korean discography and stan for Flyers - the leftover from their debut album in Korea
I use the 1st JPN Album for the old singles, mainly because I seem to enjoy them more in Japanese than Korean, for whatever reason. But as a whole, I think Girls & Peace is a much better album. So many bops.
You'll love it, it's flawless
The weekly praise pages for their 1st Jap Album
I'm finishing up the album right now, and...

...this. The first album isn't a bad album but I think I hyped up the album too much based on everyone's love for it. I still prefer the second album, although "Genie" is quite easily the best song from either.

Basically.
This can be said of any album including Flower Power, Animal and Paparazzi though.
I like some songs of their 2nd album as well, but the 1st one is the only SNSD album that you can call flawfree, there's not a single filler or bad track on it.
I seek repentence for ever doubting the HYMN that is Flower Power. The name already turned me off but it slayed me the first time I heard it. To me: their 2nd album > 1st. Reflection
And apparently the girls have renewed their contracts with SM. nooooooo not another n years of one-month-in-korea-with-a-basic-song-and-japan-tour-for-the-rest-of-the-year
I may have slightly hoped that they wold pull a Shinhwa

A perfect post! Finally, someone else who appreciates the gospel that is "Reflection".

Speaking of Shinhwa the choreo kills me every time.
I like the song tho.
To me GG and G&P are equally as good as each other in terms of music.
GG has kanpeki na bops like Bad Girl, I'm In Love With The Hero, You-Aholic, The Great Escape and also Mr. Taxi and their other Korean hits.
G&P has the divine quintet: FLOWER POWER, Animal, I'm A Diamond, Reflection, Stay Girls. Plus Paparazzi & All My Love Is For You. What kind of flawless album?
The only problem in G&P is that the lyrics are so weird. Wtf is "ready your dream berry ice cream"? G&P is like half an English album.
L&P has some jams like Gossip Girls, Motorcycle, Do The Catwalk, Karma Butterfly, LIPS and the singles L&G + MOM. But it's still not as good as the first two.
SNSD would be lucky have songs like Applause, DWUW, GUY and countless others in their discography.

If either album had been released in Korea they would have been some of the best albums released in their respected years.
They are a mess because they have no focus. There are electro-pop bops, kawaii anthems and bland ballads thrown all over the place.

I'mma have to go find the standard edition of the first album and that way I won't have to worry about specific versions and stuff. But I ask this as someone who obviously haven't heard the first album, what makes it better than the second? Isn't the first album full of translated korean singles, compared to the (mostly) original material of the second?
The first album's remakes actually add to the album. Genie fits exactly with the sound, as does RDR. Even Hoot and Gee add some diversity to the album without straying too far away from the sound (Hoot lyrically fits the integral sound of the album while Gee, although, kawaii, mirrors the hook filled sound of the rest of the album.

Stan a bit.
