They don't claim Creed? They have always been rock.
Rock has countless sub genres. Right on top my head, I can list, Alt Rock, Punk Rock, blues Rock, pop rock, jazz rock, Soft Rock, Psychedelic rock, heavy rock etc...
That's why many bands don't sound alike but are still considered Rock.

Yup. Again, they claim artists based on perceived notion of quality. And NB and Creed are the two most panned bands out there (even though their music isn't nearly as bad as people say it is).
