Brave New World is considered one of the most important literary works of all time. Part of the major plot in it has to do with people using drugs (one main one called "SOMA") to escape the pressures of a bleak reality, until they eventually get so caught up in that drug use that they no longer want to deal with the real world. When they take "SOMA," it's basically a mental vacation to paradise - some people would do it for 21 days at a time, or just drop out forever and die that way. That's why the MV has the whole paradise theme, and the crushing of the white pills before the boys got into bed and stayed there. Everything represented after is an illusion, the trap breakdown was meant to show when someone starts to break your drug-induced state and it turns into paranoia.
Basically, the "home" that they're asking the main person to come back to is not just a physical place, but a mental state. It's like having a lover addicted to some form of escapism, and feeling like they don't love you any more because you're not part of that escape.
Much like "Brave New World."
I hope that clears it up, though it is just my interpretation - but some of the referential symbolism is obvious imo.
That doesn't mean it can't still end up looking cheap though.
Come Back Home doesn't look cheap to me though, I think it's brilliantly done. Like at first I thought (for example) the trip part in the post-chorus breakdown was poor and corny as hell, but then I realised how well it works and what it achieves and now I can see it's not cheap at all. I don't know, it's hard to explain; you either see it or you don't.

It's meant to emulate postmodern 90s computer graphics, much like vaporwave:
Both 2NE1 videos are resoundingly mediocre. I commend the people in charge for attemptimg something different without creating a cringeworthy video a la Mr.Mr.

Good point.
I mean, you can tell they didn't exactly go for not-corny (since corniness has its charms, especially in those types of situation) but even then I felt like it still came off as still really professionally executed.

I think it was meant to have a certain element of camp with all of the space background images, but stuff like the statue heads seemed pretty..."in" I guess?
