Also, it's ridiculous to bring up "affirmative action". Lupita's performance received early praise along with 12 YAS. And if it was all about race, Chiwetel wouldn't have been overshadowed by Matt or Leo in the past couple of months.

I don't know why people find it hard to believe that the industry genuinely loved her performance or 12 YAS. Always trying to diminish a minority's success with stupid excuses.

Had Lupita lost to any of the other nominees, I doubt there would have been a big backlash.

Jennifer winning BLA, then turning around and winning BSA - all at the young age of 23 - when bigger and better actresses never had that easy of a chance - was what critics and pundits worried about. And it's not like it was for a deserving performance. It was probably best that Jennifer didn't win it. No wonder she didn't really campaign for it.
