Pharrell his album reviews
Quote:
Entertainment Weekly:
G I R L is be an homage to the groovy juggernaut of last year, Timberlake's 20/20 Experience. Justin himself joins Pharrell on the next song, ''Brand New,'' a manic track, and Daft Punk get up in here, too, on ''Gust of Wind.'' (If you’re wondering where Thicke’s at — actually, why would you?)
Digital Spy:
In particular, 'Happy' sounds like the attention-seeking sibling of Justin Timberlake's 'My Love.'
The Independent:
What to do with neurotic, string-swamped opener “Marilyn Monroe,” which cobbles together pieces of “Pusher Love Girl,” “Suit & Tie,” “Strawberry Bubblegum,” and “Tunnel Vision” into a belated six-minute trailer for The 20/20 Experience.
Pitchfork:
G I R L sounds like a direct spawn of last year's expensive disco-soul pop takeover, Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience—an appropriate complement to its debonair nostalgia—filled with grand orchestral flourishes, impossibly catchy funk licks, and his trademark falsetto.
Pretty Much Amazing:
Trouble is, Pharrell’s buttery, likable-but-not-lovable falsetto lacks Justin Timberlake’s expertly communicated underpinning of anxiety and his innate, radiant charisma.
Rolling Stone:
2013’s most monstrous hit, Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience, pushed units by keeping one eye on Baby Boomer nostalgia and the other on the bank. G I R L follows the same template. It worked for Justin.
