Well not necessarily hope, but it confines the human experience to something more palatable. Other animals are driven by instinctual drive. They don't have to think about why they're here. They just do.

Humans don't come into the world with this same kind of primal drive. It's a lot more...open. There's only a human experience because we create it. And for some people (or most) it gives them more security to define the experience with clear parameters (using religion, cultural norms, etc.).

I think we have the mental capacity to create a less toxic human experience not centered on things like religion. In time we'll reach that point. It's the natural progression of the world (free slaves, women right, jews get a state after holocaust, gay right, etc.).

Not sure if this is aimed at me but I'm not trying to diminish anyone. People are entitled to believe in whatever they want to believe in, however once it crosses the line of human or animal rights (or something else discriminatory or ignorant) I no longer treat it as something that has to be respected.

I don't think people ever like sit and question religion and norms and society.
When I asked myself did I ~believe because it was what gave me ~hope and ~purpose or was it something I believed in because I was taught and just accepted as a normality. And it was the latter.
And I've never understood the concept of loving someone out of fear.
If you're forced to love someone out of fear, you begin to harbor resentment and contempt.
And that just goes against everything that's supposed to be love.


So I just let it go. And I'm happy I did.
