her husband wasn't abusive but she did admit to having bouts of depression/body image issues & loneliness which she believes stems from her childhood/family life. she & rene broke up cus of cheating which she says on all for you album: specifically, son of a gun and you aint right.
they actually wrote the velvet rope album together and the overall theme was depression and self-esteem.

Britney Is One Of The Most Talented Artists Of The New Millenium, Get Over It
Why is everyone underrating Britney so much? I agree that she didn't show most of her talent in last 5 years, but calling her "talentless" and a "hasbeen" is simply delusional, let's take a look:
Britney has won many talent contests when she was a child
She's actually the most awarded living person
She definitely can write her own songs, if the haters would've bothered to check her unreleased tracks, they'd STFO
She can play the piano
Her voice is versatile and has a good register, 3,1 octaves are pretty neat for someone whose haters call "talentless"
She's currently the best female pop dancer and she's not even on her prime regards to that department
And the funny thing is, most of the hate is coming from Thiefoncé, Floptina and CaCa stans, yet their faves are mediocre artists who can't do anything else but scream in a microphone, CaCa perhaps is an exception, she's a little better than the other ****s

1. Depsite the lies you've heard, Janet's song didn't even chart on Digital Songs after the Superbowl.
2. Her airplay was due to Mainstream support, MIND YOU -- 2004 was ruled by URBAN. She wasn't charting on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, so even with Mainstream support she would've still flopped.
