That's what *******s are for" They all bop to Applause and it's on all their iPods so just because something's not selling great doesn't mean the GP aren't liking it

That's a good point. EVERYONE I know likes DWUW but refuses to legally buy a single Gaga track when I suggest it.

If you talk about this era, I agree it's too late, but overall it's not. She just needs a break and someone in her life that gets her mindset in a better place, she is so over the place with things, that it is hard to see a vision in the things she does.

Imagine if her album contained some of her old demo material. I wonder, would we still appreciate that music, has it been officially-released? I doubt it, personally.

This is probably true. I think I'll love Nothing On But the Radio always and forever. I'm a little upset it isn't on ARTPOP. I love it more than the title track And that old ass song isn't a creative leap forward, but it sure as hell is catchy

A break would only serve to make things worse. What she needs is a reality check, some wine, a tour date, and someone who tells her that the FIRST ten songs she records are going to be the next record so she should stop doubting and second-guessing her work. And she has four months to make it.

I don't think so.
The Fame, for example (being dragged left and right on here as Gaga's worst album), had some quirky lyrics, but at least they had some sort of meaning behind them.

The demo we have of Nothing On (But The Radio) seems to be different from the latest version she has. She could always rewrite the verses, up the tempo, redo the music and make it a current track. This song, No Way and Animal are by far her catchiest demos and I'm surprised she hadn't done anything with them. It's not like it's impossible to redo the music.

One time, one of my friends came up to me and said "hey you know that new Lady gaga song? Applause? it's my favorite song" He said this to me because everyone knows I like Gaga btw. Then he said "Didn't it go number 1 everywhere?" and I was like "Yes "

The lyrics to Applause are bad. I saw people liking the song, but not loving the verses. Imagine if Gaga gave us actual lyrics to sing along to and vocals that didn't sound like Miranda Sings
And I just made the best combo of BTW + ARTPOP
HML is still amazing. I don't think I ever got over this song.

Back then the weirdness was still there, just restricted to behavior and image and much less prominent.
The lyrics wouldn't be an issue at all to me if the image hadn't taken that weirdness and exponentially expanded upon it.

The quirkiness used to have a purpose, though. Now it's just try hard and not charming at all.
Also the fact that she didn't stand by her message she was trying to get across with DWUW just shows that she didn't really believe in it either.
One second she's singing to the critics to "do what (they) want to (her) body," and the next she's telling the critics that they have no right to "critic (sic.) her if they are not an artist themselves"

What really makes me confused is the fact that people pay 100's of dollars to see her live yet they don't buy the album. Her apparent "decline" didn't have any impact on her touring power

a break doesn't mean for me a year or whatever. she just needs like you say a reality check, but aslong as she is in the whirlwind of an era, where she is surrounded by people who actually approve and believe in her so called "vision" things will never change. I mean I think she probably ha sthe right concepts in mind, she just needs someone who can help her to find the best aspects of those ideas and not let her having ping pong inbetween it. I mean we went this era from a painted face, to ghost looks, to some mediėval inspired stuff etc. ping pong can be good, but the development and the actual potray of it needs to be focused actually thought out, and not only from an "art" point of view.

I really don't think the lyrics need to related to the image, I mean, she wrote "Just Dance" and "Paparazzi" for The Fame, and for each she had a different image and persona. Her act can change at all times, but she can't change her song lyrics once she's put them out.

Great example.
Venus is a great track because it's odd, but no one would ever understand these ****ing verses. "Aphrodite lady, seashell bikini, garden panty - VENUS". Really, bitch? If you write a song about Venus, the goddess of love, can't you write a ****ing proper love song admiring her or at least something that makes sense?

Cyndi Lauper was quite a touring force for awhile as well. Besides, her tour gross will decline as well, slowly but surely, as the hits stop coming.
