There's a difference between deadpan and being affectless. For example, Dev is/was (is she still a thing?) really good at the former, her flat affect was more for effect: it made her sound sultry, sexy, and sort of mysterious. Amy just sounds bored, like she's reading her lines straight off the sheet. It's hard to get excited for a song when the singer herself doesn't even seem to have feelings for the song she's singing.
But that's just me, I guess.
