I don't think so, Lana was between eras when Lorde broke and we're yet to see them side by side for them to be compared success-wise

No. I am very sure Lana's next album will be bigger than her last due to her recent exposure. I'm VERY surprised that the GP even understands what Lorde says, her lyrics are not Top 40 friendly at all. Unless people like singing along to something they don't understand.

Granted Lana had a hit album, she is, and never was in the forefront of people's minds like Lorde currently is.

This!!! I had never heard of Lana before joining atrl. And I hear Lorde on the radio and I see her at the Grammy's etc.

No. Like I have never heard anyone in real life compare these 2, it's mostly on ATRL. Lana is still relevant and her next album will have amazing openning numbers, while Lorde is doing her thing and will probably score another hit with Team. Their success is really not related.
|
Agree with you on everything except for the bolded sentence.
Team already is a hit. #8 on BB100, #7 on iTunes, #2 on overall radio, #2 on pop radio, #7 on HAC radio, #9 on Rhythmic radio, and #1 on AAA and Alternative radio is definitely a hit in my book

Lana had a hit album and a successful tour. People are waiting for her to release ultraviolence.
I don't get what did Lorde steal then.

Such a bold statement, but no receipts. But that's another thread.

Lorde her lyrics are actually quite easy to understand. Not annoyingly metaphorical like some.

Exactly. These gyals don't get that nobody cares about this except for ATRL. Obviously the GP likes both, since both are selling. Lana in particular is still selling after 2 years.

The receipts aren't hard to find. Bey is the only one from that list who's debatable since Beyoncé (album) COULD end up above 5m.

That's because you are a fan. Royals was easy to digest after a listen or two. But a song like Team only has an understandable chorus. Tennis Court is also more complicated throughout. But that's just me.
