I got into Gaga in June '08 listening to Just Dance too many times. I have experienced every video premiere and album release. Born This Way may be sloppy but it has some brilliant highs: namely Born This Way, Government Hooker, Heavy Metal Lover, The Edge of Glory.

ARTPOP is heavily flawed in the sense that it was what she was doing up until that point, so it was redundant to try and start defining it now.

Furthermore the album doesn't offer what you'd expect from an album named as such. Born This Way offers a lot of songs (GH, MTN, BTW), which challenge traditional pop structures whereas ARTPOP is largely adherent to radio trends, and the subject matter doesn't veer too far away from sex.

There's simply a clear gulf between what Gaga intends and what she creates on ARTPOP and it's simply a theme that did not need substantiating given her artistic history.

Those vocals are kinda the best part of MANiCURE! It's so nice on my ears, kinda like hearing her voice strain a bit, not in a damaging way but in a practiced way. Same (to less extent) with Dope. My 3 favs on ARTPOP, with G.U.Y.

I think Gaga was actually being herself during The Fame. But she changed, her visions changed, she grew. Either way, I love The Fame's concept and lyricism a lot. The singles were killer too, while most consider it a Katy-like album, I kinda prefer that type of music. Something understandable and accessible, but it's still her worse album cause it contains some of her worst tracks. I Like It Rough, Summerboy, Retro Dance Freak and Disco Heaven need to go.
