Do you guys honestly believe this is her best record? I'd love to know why. I think it's one of her worst, the lyrics are not my taste and I think she could be better. Honestly what mostly puts me off is the mixture of art and pop she wants to make, it all feels so forced now when she did it effortlessly with her previous albums. While ARTPOP is still a good record, the lyricism has something that puts me off a lot in most of the songs. Even though I must admit my problem is the concept of the record/era rather than the music itself. That being said, I'm not trying to be negative, just stating why I think it's her second worst album and asking why you guys think it's her best (or one of).
To me, her best is Born This Way. I connect a lot with the music and message, the lyrics are still relatable and she changed a lot musically. I love the rockish, dark vibes the music has and how experimental she went. That album has her best music ever in my opinion, followed by the flawless The Fame Monster.

You said it yourself. You don't like her attitude. Me neither.
But the album is great. I don't know if I can it's the best. That always changes imo. I just know The fame is forever the worst. (but it's also a great album)

This is true but Artpop is more top three than second worst imho.

Scheiße, Heavy Metal Lover, The Edge of Glory and Yoü And I are the only top tier tracks on Born This Way. Americano and Government Hooker are fun too but that's about it.
ARTPOP has Do What U Want, Sexxx Dreams, G.U.Y. Applause and Gypsy. Manicure and Swine are fun at the right times but again, that's about it.
I wonder how things would have panned out if ARTPOP had followed TFM with singles like Sexxx Dreams, Gypsy, DWUW, Applause...

ARTPOP isn't her best but let's not act like BTW is better.

Born This Way > The Fame Monster > Artpop > The Fame imho. My rankings lined up that way when I did individual rankings. Let me dig them up..

1. BTW is miles away from being art pop. Not that ARTPOP is much closer to being art pop, tbh.
2. The lyrics on ARTPOP are stronger in some parts and weaker in other. I can agree that it's not her best lyricswise.
3. ARTPOP, the album, is fun. FUN. This cannot be said about BTW.
4. ARTPOP is not alienating GP - even though most of them do not know the album is out.
The mood, the vibe, the constant party is something what I was hoping for after the awful BTW mess.
5. For me BTW sounded like a one bad noisy gay song - excluding Scheiße, Bloody Mary, Heavy Metal Lover, Government Hooker - which are ALL great songs. The rest is just too much for me. I could barely sit through the album.
As you said - you feel connected to the album and that's what matters. I feel connected to ARTPOP. It really all comes down preferences.
ARTPOP>TFM>TF>BTW for me.

Even with Dope, Fashion! and JnD - ARTPOP still has better replay value than BTW.

I can't believe people don't think The Edge of Glory is one of the greatest songs created in the past decade.

I think ARTPOP would've been better received if she sang it with TFM-style vocals

We have the same flawless taste, indeed
Born This Way is her best, followed by TFM and then ARTPOP, The Fame being her worst overall. Even though The Fame's singles are all amazing songs.

Dope, Gypsy, Fashion!, Artpop, and Do What U Want remain some of my favorite songs. People make the mistake of adding the bonus songs to Born This Way - which does bring down the score. They aren't on the version I got so they don't exist.
