I think it was mostly the music why people "lost interest" but at the same time he still was having chart success. His hair is the least of his worries and the marriage killed the sex appeal in the beginning.

That's the thing, he knows this hairstyle is wack (because he makes sure to post photos of his confession hair cut after filming hands of stone) and most of his fanbase and general public lost interest in him because it was sucking the sexiness out of him. The Confessions haircut fits him perfect no doubt. I'm not sure if they lost interest only because of his look but I also think it was because of his music change from R&B to mainstream R&B/EDM.

Usher looks good but I also wish that he would style himself more... people loved his look/style even straight guys was always looking for his style but now he acts like he isn't that fresh/sexy looking man anymore and this has nothing to do with his age... he's not 50!
