Wakin up scared some nights still dreamin 'bout them violent times
Still a little protective 'bout the people that I let inside
Still a little defensive thinkin folks be tryin to run my life
Still a little depressed inside
I fake a smile and deal with the side effects
#Beautiful >>>>>> those other songs [...]. Beautiful is perfection. Organic, feel good. She needs to understand that.
THIS!
'#Beautiful' is one of my absolute, absolute favorite songs of my entire life. I always feel in carefree and in love when I listen to the song. It makes me dream of summer days and nights, riding bicycle with my boyfriend and my friends, and being really happy. It gets me every single time.

Only Mariah's best song from the past decade sans Love Story.
To me, #B is superior to 'Letting Go' but I still love it to death. I listened to it last night for, like, an hour and it hit me so hard. I could totally relate to the lyrics and her vocals killed me.
'#Beautiful' and 'The Art Of Letting Go' are her best tracks since 'Butterfly' to me. I am so thankful

I STAN for this VERSION!
That instrumental production sounds a little dated, too, but it shows that the song had at least more potential and could have been better than the original mess
Thanks for posting it.
I don't get people who say "I love Emotions, but hate Music Box" or "I love Daydream, and hate Butterfly".
Like they were recorded EXACTLY around each other (and it's not like they had an extreme difference like Butterfly and Rainbow), and for all you know I'm literally sure probably half the stuff on Music Box was unreleased from Emotions and half the stuff on Butterfly unreleased from Daydream.
Aside from their perfection I don't see the big similarity between 'Daydream' and 'Butterfly' to be honest. Of course 'Fantasy' was 'Honey' ha predecessor, I see the development in the lyrics and stuff. But while 'Daydream' was pop perfection with big, crystal clear vocals 'Butterfly' served mesmerizing r&b realness with more soothing singing.
To me there's more similarities between the debut and 'Emotions' as well as 'The Emancipation' and 'E=MC˛' than between the albums you mentioned.
I think Emotions sounds VERY different from Music Box. Music Box pretty much stripped all the bombast and soulfulness of her sound and put her into that girl next door, middle of the road AC vein. In fact, that's exactly what Sony was aiming to do. Everything is much more polished, and toned down. And that shift has never really left her music.

Everything about Butterfly is an R&B Daydream.
Fantasy > Honey
Underneath the Stars > Forth of July
I Am Free > Butterfly
One Sweet Day > Whenever You Call
Even Daydrram Interlude > Butterfly Interlude

Name 2 songs from Charmbracelet that sound like their from Rainbow.

Without You and Hero show off her voice more than any song on Emotions, and Anytime You Need a Friend has more soul than any track on Emotions.

Well, duh! Sure you can find equivalents of songs on 'Daydream' and 'Butterfly'. But as you said yourself, 'Butterfly' is the R&B 'Daydream', and therefore I could see that someone likes the poppier 'Daydream' over the more soothing 'Butterfly' or the other way around.
