All of my faves (The Beatles, Taylor Swift, Arcade Fire, and to a lesser extent Lady Gaga) are known as songwriters and I don't like Rihanna, but it is what it is.

I beg to differ but ok. Rihanna is more acclaimed than you give her much credit for. If theres anyone out of her generation as a female artist thats gonna be relevant (or still well known) in the next 15 years, it will be her.

Exactly most people don't know if these girls write their own songs and are generally Clueless, it is a plus if a Popstar is a songwriter but most people don't care as long as the music is good

I don't discuss writing credits with people. I've heard them comment on the song and how they assume she wrote it about Chris Brown.
