It's unfortunate, but the same thing happened to the Nicki base not long ago. You shouldn't blame the moderators though, it's completely on the shoulders of the monsters that were being off-topic and disruptive. It's an example of a few bad apples ruining the batch. The trolling and off-topic discussion was like a virus, slowly taking over all of the members in the base. If they weren't going to act sensible then they don't deserve to have the base open. They aren't there for people to troll and act like a fool; if that's how they are going to treated it, then it's going to be taken away. Now their only choice is to take the non-Gaga related discussion to the proper threads (SYG, RTs) and blogs.

The thread isn't gone forever, it'll be back once everyone has calmed down.
I just hope, for the innocent monsters sake, that when it comes back there won't be anymore issues.

I've literally said on multiple occasions that ATRL will be forgotten by many within 2 - 4 years. The state ATRL currently is in, is driving away the members who actually have substance, slowly but surely. Look at umich. Poor guy is one of the best and the messy events today drove him to the brink.

I can't answer your question, but just as an FYI: the closure of the base wasn't directly caused by the nickname fiasco.

Everyone has indeed calmed down though, so maybe the mods will let y'all off the hook early.

Seriously though, it is the truth that the members with substance are being driven away. The number of members who actually offer interesting discussion and perspectives are dwindling for a reason. Sure, atrl will always be around, but it will never match the peak in quality that it was once at. It will likely transform completely into a cesspool full of Twitter stans and essentially rot away into the essence of ignorance. If that is the direction that key individuals want the forum to move in, then alright. Enjoy the silence.
