But the thing is Britney was still a HUGE part of American culture regardless of her lower sales and radio spins. While songs from that era may not be as well known with the public (save "Toxic" and "Gimme More"), Britney herself was still a major factor from 2001 - 2009, where she would once again find commercial success.

The same cannot be said for Gaga lately.
