People keep discounting the "DWUW had no video" excuse, but it's true. The Bad Romance and Telephone videos totally made those songs click-- in fact, I remember the monsters having meltdowns when BR first leaked because they thought it sounded like a flop

Well that, and it also doesn't matter because the single will probably flop no matter what at this point. Might as well release something fun with a great video, rather than agonizing over the perfect single choice
