I really hope this goes top 20 next week and pushes Natasha past 200 million! Its pretty pathetic that if Natasha does go top 20 she'll still only be selling about twice as much as her sales now at the bottom of the chart, sales are so low I hope this can go gold, maybe if sales stay consistent after this performance, I'm looking at this as a second chart life. |

4 Minutes stopped at #3 just like Gimme More and its bad that she actually had so much promotion for the song and had Timbaland AND Justin on it and actually had a good video, she still couldnt get to #1. I dont get it, she had everything ... and still such a mediocre debut with Hard Candy.
And if its just sales being bad this time of year, how come Mariah had a better debut than Madonna? And Alicia?

Hard Candy is sweet indeed.
Madonna’s final studio album for Warner Bros. before embarking on her deal with promoter Live Nation will debut at #1 on next week’s HITS Album Sales chart with a total of between 270-290k.
She’s easily the topper in a three-way battle of the dueling divas which also includes Mariah Carey’s previously #1 Island/IDJ album E=MC2 at 85-90k and J/Syco Music newcomer Leona Lewis’ Spirit at 80k.
Hard Candy is actually one of six newcomers in the Top 10, which would ordinarily be good news. Unfortunately, it takes a little under 30k in sales to get there.
Columbia R&B star Lyfe Jennings will bow in the Top 5 with between 70-75k for his third album Lyfe Change, as will The Roots’ Def Jam album, Rising Down, with a first-week number that appears to be between 65-70k.
Def Leppard’s Universal album Songs from the Sparkle Lounge is up next with 50-55k, boosted perhaps by their appearance on Dancing with the Stars this week.
Island trip-hop pioneers Portishead are back with Third, their first studio album in 10 years, showing surprising strength at 45-50k, good for a Top 10 debut.
SBMG/Commercial Music Group’s Now 27 keeps going along at 28-30k, followed by Big Machine/Universal Republic country star Taylor Swift (26-30k).
Reprise’s Tom Petty reunion of his early Florida band Mudcrutch rides some critical kudos and a series of intimate performances at the Troubadour to a bow inside the Top 10 at 26-28k, where it will duke it out with Rhino’s Juno soundtrack.

He has shocked me before when he was #3 with his last album. But, this time he didn't even really get as much promotion this time around and still did pretty good.

Okay, not attacking, but, "4 Minutes" is way more successful than "Gimme More". Not only is "4M" in top 10 of radio with no signs of slowing yet, but also has had huge digital sales pretty much every week since its been released. Yeah it stopped at #3, but, she having a lot of promotion doesn't matter nor does having some homos on the track. The two songs that stopped it from peaking further from #3 were both urban and pop-friendy artists, meaning they had extra radio support. You can't change the fact that urban DJs won't play a white female pop artist just because it has a black and wanna be black guy on there. Had radio supported "4 Minutes", meaning a huge gain on pop for a long time in the "Bleeding Love" kind of way, then it COULD HAVE gone #1. "Gimme More" pretty much peaked all in one week then began to fall, while "4M" is holding up.
Add on Madonna hasn't had THAT much promo. Besides a video, iTunes promotion, and radio interviews she's had nothing. Britney had the exact same things and Madge is debuting in the same area as she is.
Mimi had a better debut because she was actually OUT there promoting, and had a lot more promotions. Add that her last era was still a large American success, while Madonna's was more international. Plus again, she had more radio support on different formats which equals to a wider audience.
Alicia had a better debut because it was Christmas, and "As I Am" is overrated.

Dani asked a question, so I answered, and I didn't mean CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS, smart one, but in that season of large sales. And if a month is WAAAAY before Christmas then I guess your time goes super slow cause thats not far to me.
