I do agree though, the lack of communication is creating an issue. Even though the mods are entitled to warn something as they see fit, there needs to be an updated baseline of what should be warned based on these new rules. Then, the members need to be informed of this baseline. It's crazy how " " in one thread is disruptive but in another thread it isn't. Stuff like that needs to be regulated and known. The members are consistently getting the bottom end of these new rules that pop up every other day and next to no one knows about them unless they're perched in ATRL HQ daily.
I think sometimes the members overreact at the mods but at the end of the day, the moderators and/or admins are suppose to let the members of the site know what's going on and not just brush them off as troublemakers and children as they do daily in this thread. The "respect" needs to start with the mods/admins then trickle down to the members. Whichever members can't be respectful to the mods at that point are probably a mess and will end up banned anyways.
|
Exactly! All I'm saying is that the communication needs to be worked on ASAP, because as of right now, it's not working. And as for the I agree with that too! I've noticed that people have been picking and choosing what is and isn't disruptive in each thread, which isn't fair. If it's considered disruptive in one place then it should be that way everywhere. There's more that needs to be said but I have class so I'll continue this at a later time.

Context always matters. can be fine when you're replying to some Floridian news story. It's not fine when you're posting in a thread meant to discuss an album or single.
This is why the rules are deliberately "vague", because context and intent are as important as the post's content. And it's why there can be warning inconsistencies, because it's always a subjective call whether to warn something or not. We don't see this as a problem. If you're really sure of your innocence, you can always get a second opinion by submitting a help request.

I don't agree. We do this job to improve ATRL, and we do it for free, so I don't think it should start with us in any way. That said, we obviously shouldn't be disrespectful as that would be unprofessional. But respect shouldn't "start" anywhere anyway. It has to come from both sides.
Usually it's disrespect that starts from one side. As long as someone isn't disrespectful to me, I won't be to him/her either.
And again, I agree with your main point, but more often than not the disrespect in here doesn't start with a moderator.

I can more than speak for myself when I say two specific mods have came out their way to disrespect me when I did nothing disrespectful or insulted them in anyways.
I've seen that kind of behavior increase lately in here from mods. People want an answer, maybe they bump their post a little early in HQ and a mod says something shady in return and doesn't even help the person. Or a person pleads for a reversal or one less point and a mod flat out says no with no real explanation. That's just disrespectful no matter how you look at it.
Just as easily though as you can say, "We do this job to improve ATRL, and we do it for free, so I don't think it should start with us in any way", us ATRL members can say that we use this site for free and keep it up and running by clicking those ads and having them pop up every 5 & 1/2 seconds when you're on mobile ATRL. We could use one of those other sites but we choose ATRL because we actually like it here. So, I just don't think that's an excuse to not be respectful majority of the time.
If someone disrespects you then that's fine to be disrespectful in return (within the means of ATRL rules). However, if a member is just asking for help, mods shouldn't be disrespectful and act like everyone should know all these rules that change every month now. There needs to be more communication on that part.

I don't think visiting a website because you enjoy it is at all comparable to sacrificing a piece of your time to work for the website voluntarily. Go to a few other forums and you will find most of them have rules that disallow you to be disrespectful to the staff (more so than to other members).
Also, I never said it's an excuse to not be respectful. I merely disagreed that respect should start with us. It should come from both sides. I mean, of course should be respectful, that goes without saying. But we expect respect in return, and that is all I am saying.

Perhaps it was because you implied you were "right" for being straight, sis?
A little critical thinking goes a looooong way.

True but again people volunteer a lot of time to ATRL making the games, the rates, the OPs for various threads, explaining radio adds, posting radio adds, iTunes updates, sales figures, compilling those "receipts" threads, the homework help thread and many more things on this site. As much time as you sacrifice to moderator the site, other people are sacrificing to make the content that goes on this site. You wouldn't have anything to moderate if those people weren't here sacrificing their time too.
Outside of that, I don't really disagree with what you're saying and I see your point.

Well, who I am to decide what is right or wrong in sexuality, we should let these decisions to our holy books The Bible and the Qur'an.
The same books to most our leaders to swear on, sis.

Can someone please ban ''Jhonyguy04''? One of the most irritating Monsters on the board, and wouldn't be surprised if he was the dupe of some other Monster.
Advantages:
1. The average IQ of ATRL members will go up about 10 points.
2. The site is crawling with Monsters, either still misinformed or converted. Getting rid of the worst ones would clearly benefit the quality of discussion here.
3. He doesn't use proper syntax and makes numerous grammatical errors, making his stupidity even harder to read than it already is.
4. It'd mean the end of another one of Remixed's various accounts.
OK, thanks. Bye.
