Funny how you always blame me emphasizing the commercial success but defending Shania Twain with it Amyways, don't you know she didn't win so much CMAs or Grammys compared to her huge commercial success ? Even her one of the biggest albums lost to Dixie Chicks at The Grammys. Critics also don't very like her, too. She's not as respected as, let's say Allison Kraus, who is more of a country artist than her. So, do you understand what i mean with being Shania Twain 2.0 ?
MM isn't the pit for the reviews, as Red proved (which is Taylor's best reviewed album along with SN ) Adele and Taylor Swift are complete different stories, too. Adele's voice is superior to Taylor Swift, which is why she always get respect even her albums aren't that good. But i'd say even Adele is not so much relevant in these days. The time between her albums is so long, which is a risk for her upcoming album, we'll see.
All those artists you name like Adele or U2, mostly respected because of their earlier albums. Taylor's 2nd album Fearless also won AOTY, which is good for the future, however, after that point, Taylor's always faced some sort of backlash telling that 'she didn't deserve that much recognition' You don't see anyone questioning 21's AOTY win, but you can see so many people questioning Fearless' win. And they started to question even in 2010, this has nothing to do with MM or going pop stuff. Taylor won so many industry awards, however, for GP, she's never been that much of a respected artist like Adele. And she'll hardly become imo, because her voice will always limit her artistry.
So, i think we shouldn't focus on the quality stuff that much. Of course she'll produce quality albums at least at some level, but become realitstic and see she won't be as respecteed as some of the other musical legends. She'll be respected in some other sense, like Madonna maybe. We should just think of these stuff in a more basic way, like just listening to her music and enjoying it. I'm sure LP5 will be enjoyable for me, so i don't have a reason for the meltdowns at all.

Y'all hating Max Martin just because of WANEGBT and 22. It's not like he wrote the songs alone and gave it to Taylor. And I find it really hypocritical that y'all condemn his production and yet praise TLO and STF

^ And i'd even say 22's production (sound) isn't that bad. But i can't defend WANEGBT, that was really generic and repetitive.

Why don t you quote directly the post you answer to first off ?
MM is one of the most hated producers actually, a reason why he never won a grammy, people questionning Fearless's win because she a bigger star than Adele and she s overexposed therefore, if you look at the winners, she s the only one of her status to win it since maybe Celine Dion, Norah Jones was like Adele, Santana wasn t a superstar but a legend, if Rihanna or Lady Gaga won AOTY, they d be criticized..
she was more respected and loved when she debuted back in 2007, 2008, 2009 and to an extent 2010 but after when you dont stick to your roots you lost all credibility, trust me if Adele comes up with a song like I Gotta Feeling or WANGBT for her next ablum, she d be backlashed
talk about respect, Madonna is the queen of pop, dont you know that ?

So many people replying me It's easier to read in this way if there are more than 1 quote imo
MM won Grammys with Kelly Clarkson I know he's hated, but that's because he always produce hits, they don't like the hitmakers in the music industry.
Adele was huge too, at that time. And Adele in 2012 was more global than Taylor in 2010 actually. Star status can be subjective, but she'd already sold a lot of albums before she won the AOTY in 2012. She was definitewly bigger than Norah Jones. And OK, then there's MJ who's also another superstar and who won it with Thriller and nobody questions his win, too ?
So, do you think Taylor hasn't stuck to her roots since 2010, because she already started to lose her credibility at that date, way before the MM and going pop thing ?

The award went to Kelly (vocal performance), not Max. Max has never won a Grammy. She won't win a Grammy (talking about songs that she writes with him) unless she gives an incredible vocal performance on a song he's produced, but then again, the award will go to her and not to Max.

no, it s not because he s a hitmaker, it s because he s a recycler, they way he produces songs, the way he makes big mac tunes over and over again just to appeal to the lowest common denominators, look at Pharell Williams, he s also a hitmaker but he s more respected than MM will never be.
Nope star status is not subjective, Carole King with Tapestry is among the biggest albums by female artists EVER thou she never reached Madonna or Janet's stardom so it s not that subjective. Come Away With Me was a debut album...wait Thriller spent like 39 weeks at the top of charts ! how can you go against it if you re not ill minded, and now MJ is already a legend, maybe if Taylor sticks to her roots in the future, she won t be criticized, she s actually writing her own history, she can still choose how she will be remembered.
since WANEGBT tbh not in 2010, Speak Now was not just for mainstream audience but her fans followed her , thou Taylor started to be a bit homeless with SN (no real genre) but she hasnt lost her credibility, one more album full of One More Night, Dynamite, "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and she s done

There's nothing you all need to worry about actually. Max Martin can still produce authentic-sounding songs. And Taylor doesn't like to repeat herself, so I'm pretty sure she won't do songs like WANEGBT and 22 again. Just chill. She knows what she's doing. Who knows? We might get flawless gems like 'Who Knew' or 'Quitter' this time.

PREACH!
I think we can all decide whether LP5 is good or not, and whether she is still herself, when LP5 drops. So we don't we leave all those dicussions and argues until then?
The base is much less fun to read with all those recycled arguements and long essays

Pharrell Williams was never recognized that much, until this year. And its mostly because of Daft Punk actually. Nobody's here for his work with Robin Thicke, for instance.
And i don't get, do you think in 2010 Taylor was a bigger star than, for instance Beyonce ? If she's not bigger than her competitors for Aoty, why did everybody still criticize Taylor's win in 2010 ? I think the reason is not the stardom imo, again. Her performance at the 2010 Grammys was the first reason for the start of the backlash imo. And that's again related with her vocals.
The reason why shes not seen as a credilbe artist by some people;
1. ''She can't sing''
2 ''She always sings about her ex bf's, she's immature'' (as they say)
WANEGBT is a part of the reason 2, but Taylor's also equally responsible for this with MM. And let's face it, most of the fans loved that song when they first heard it. They didn't care if it's a really quality song or not.
