Brooklyn Nights wasn't so much a reject though as much of a song she wanted to drastically changed. I'm thinking it might be a Volume II release if she held back on it. That is, at least, if you take her for her word.

TFM didn't have a very clear theme to me tho, it's very much like ARTPOP, it claims it has a theme but it's not very clear. TF and BTW have much clearer themes

Someone mentioned it to me here the other day but Artpop seems to very much be an album about love. Her love for fashion, her man, her drugs. It was just marketed so badly as Artpop and Applause is very distracting from it.

Just imagine an album titled "Venus" or "Eros" or something Greek related to love.

it 'is'. just how ARTPOP 'is' about mixing Art and Popculture. She marketed them as such, but in reality the music doesn't very clearly correlate to those themes. at least not as clearly as they do in TF and BTW.

yas yas I've thought that from the start. If the title of the album was Venus I predict the entire era would've been very different. But I guess making an album all about love isn't very unique so I see why gaga wanted the theme to be ARTPOP, but she failed to make most of the songs reflect that theme

If she kept the name as "Venus" and did Aura - Venus - G.U.Y. the era would have slayed so hard and would have made complete sense and would have been praised for not being pretentious and its themed visuals and message.

I think The Fame, The Fame Monster, and Born This Way were all perfectly executed in terms of having an overall encompassing theme and sticking to it with the music and marketing. ARTPOP has an overall theme of love, but they've marketed it as the whole "putting art in pop culture" thing which is cool, but it doesn't fit the music at all. The songs really aren't about that.

It would have been cool if she stuck with the Greek mythology imagery and named the album Venus or Eros.
