It comes down to this: Taylor made a huge fanbase and sold tons of records because she was a talented songwriter and had meaningful, relatable songs that people loved to listen to and were interested in her music. We saw a ton of fans leave after 3 MM songs, even though one was great.. An album full of MM songs will do way more harm to her career. Fans will leaves and her sales will decrease.
Well-written songs > hit songs
#1 albums > #1 songs
longevity and legacy > a bunch of quick lil singles
Anyways, i'm just against these kind of bold statements.Maybe not so many of her fans are the fans of her just because they thought she made quality music. I think most of them are fans of her because they can relate to her songs (this is not the quality, tho) I mean, i'm sure Taylor's team make these kind of projections better than us and they can see the distribution of her fans. Just look at Scott's POV and you can see why MM is the right decision for her.
I just focus on Taylor and not on Martin and Shellback. As far as I am concerned, they are only facilitators. Taylor writes the music, and Martin and Shellback facilitate. So if Taylor writes a masterpiece, will Martin and Shellback add or take away from the quality? That is the question?

Yes, as evidenced by 22's bridge that they scrapped. It's MM's job to create catchy songs, not quality songs.
Well, my new dream for LP5 is:
3-4 Max Martin
4-5 Jeff Bhasker
4-5 Nathan Chapman
2-3 Others (Ryan Tedder, Dan Huff, that Ariel R guy who produced HAIM's album, other surprises)
There is no indication that She is working with anyone but Max

And she said there would be way more than 3 MM songs on LP5.
I'm guessing:
8-9 MM
4-5 Chapman
3-4 Randoms including 1 duet.
