I feel like the music industry is at a really weird place right now with trends and taste. I don't know what it is that the GP wants from anyone anymore. One minute an indie rock sang can be slaying, the next it's an R&B song and then it's back to catchy dance songs. It's such a toss up and I imagine it's really difficult for artists to pinpoint what's selling right now.
Honestly, You're Mine probably wasn't the best choice regardless. I'm a Lamb and it still hasn't grown on me as much as I'd like it to. Taken, I stan Rainbow and TAOLG, so I'm probably not the best reflection of what's poppin' but still. At this point, I'd rather Mariah just stick with her traditional signature sounds and not worry about selling. It's useless because no matter what she throws out there I don't think it's going to do
that great. Let's face it, she's sitting at the senior citizens table with Madonna, Celine and Cher. They all had great songs their past era that should have gotten more recognition but were all shunned by the GP because of their age. It's a sad to say that in the MUSIC industry youthful trends/gimmicks is more sought after than actual talent.
I don't really like TMB or You're Mine.
