Oprah, Ellen, The View, & Jerry Springer had the biggest influence on modern-day talk shows.

I see Oprah's influence on shows like Katie Couric, Queen Latifah, Anderson Cooper, etc. They were/are all on ABC.

Ellen's show is huge and most people love her.

Jerry Springer brought the trashy talk show genre to new heights.

The View influenced the roundtable discussion talk shows like The Talk (basically the exact same thing), The Chew (also on ABC), etc.

I mean I'm not into the self-help & diet stuff lol, but I thought her show covered some interesting stuff. She'd get good interviews/guests & cover some fascinating stories. Her shows covering sad stories kind of set a blueprint for other talkshows.

Her show was more interesting to watch then other talk shows I've seen.
