I think this is the general sentiment of all parties. We have a long and rough history of wars on this planet, and I think the majority have moved past that concept. It doesn't solve any problems.
America is powerful but not exactly liked by every country. That's why I think WW#tres is possible. If Iran establishes good rapport with the Cuban government its a rap.
Russia has the strongest military after the US. They will obviously form an alliance with the Middle East. If the US falls, China stands no chance.
China is the next strongest economy after the US and is already making strides as the next superpower. Really Russia is just a paper tiger. It looks strong but is eternally week. After the USSR the country has been on a decline. I don't know where you're getting that from. Plus China has the largest manpower vault in the world.
Why would we waste a nuclear weapon on a few ships?
We may overreact to some things, but I highly doubt anyone is dumb enough to use a nuclear weapon on Irani ships that probably have the build integrity of a toy boat...
