Beyonce is an R&B girl primarily. She's branded as pop b/c of her crossover success. She's really spent years positioning herself in a unique place where she's ''legit'' with pop, R&B, and hip hop audiences and more recently, indie/hipster audiences. It's quite smart actually.
Beyonce is not too pop for R&B audiences. How "Drunk In Love" raced to the top of the R&B charts in WEEKS but pop struggled to play "XO."
Well you know what I meant! She's obviously gonna get support from the radios, but in comparison to the artists on both sides of the spectrum, she's an anomaly.

Beyonce doing the dual singles is once again proven pointless. Does she not understand that pop audiences like her and appreciate her b/c of her urban songs ? Outside of the 4 era, since when has Bey's urban songs never crossed over? SL the urban single went #1, and IIWAB and Halo didn't. DIL/XO will repeat that.
