They net on tour (fearless?). Claire didn't inspire Speak Now, hayley w's ex did. And she stopped dancing because Claire has a daughter and she wanted to spend more time with her.

I'd always assumed that they just met backstage while on tour, hit things off, and everything went from there.

What makes you think that she inspired speak now? I always thought that the commonly accepted explanation is that the song came about due to a discussion between the Lord and Hayley Williams about one of Williams' exes, Josh Farro, getting married even though Willaims still loved him. Upon hearing this the Lord apparently said "well are you going to speak now?" and that inspired the song. Do you have some evidence that this is wrong?

i remember thinking "wait, is this cross promotion for the nicholas sparks movie that is coming out with amanda seyfried and channing tatum?" then it only hit me afterwards

sidenote: i thought that same thing when i saw "The Lucky One" on the tracklist and thought of the nicholas sparks movie with zac efron in it
