I disagree. Taylor has a much larger fanbase than Katy in terms of dedicated fans. Katy has a wide appeal with her pop singles but thats pretty much it. I think if Taylor goes the Katy route she will see album sales decline about 50% almost immediately.

Yeah the GP doesn't view Taylor as=Katy.

People I know who dislike both dislike Taylor because supposedly all her songs sound the same and are her whining about boys or else teen-girl-fantasizing about boys.
But they recognize that at least she does write songs (even if they hate the songs) and she doesn't whip out her boobs to sell.

It's hard to admit that but actually i think GP thinks Taylor Swift is worse than Katy Perry , unfortunately.. Taylor's main problem is not working with MM and going pop actually, she has to change her ''always writing about her ex bf's' image. That image actually damages Taylor's status and the respect waaaaay more than her becoming more of a pop artist. If she goes full pop but if she can change people's minds about her writing songs always about her ex-bfs, she can be even more respected than today.

by going all pop, no matter what, she will LOSE fans. She will be closing many doors. And I dont see anyone really wanting a full pop album from her.

If she has sense she will launch her next album with three types of songs (in no order):
a folk/country Mumford and Sons type song that is also pop radio friend
an actual pop song
an acoustic/piano ballad that country will eat up

^ will be FAR more effective than having 3 mainstream pop singles in a row.

Taylor is a polarizing artist. If you made a survey like 'who's your #1 fave artist? 'Taylor would be in front of Katy Perry. However, if you also made another survey which is like 'Who do you hate the most?' , Taylor would be in front of Katy Perry once again. So, you can tell that people love Taylor more than Katy and people hate Taylor more than Katy, both are correct. But the ones who love Taylor or Katy are the fans, so when we talk about GP, we don't usually consider them as a part of GP, due to the objectivitiy.

ı was just giving an example by saying a full pop album, she won't anyways. The album probably will have more pop songs and they will probably become the singles, but that's it.

However, ı totally disagree about the singles part. Pop singles are far better commerically.

pop doesnt have to be as lame as WANGBT. 'Royals' and that Gotye song were 100 times bigger than that and were not typical pop. I dont even like those two songs but lbr. Experimenting is key. Any **** can release a Katy song lbr.
