There's a lot of dissonance here but in reality the public doesn't really think there's much difference between them. And I think that's something that goes for most mainstream singers.
Also I think her appeal to songwriting has lost some charm, it feels like it its an over used word for everyone. That Katy track list picture that's always linked here is a good example of how anyone can 'be an songwriter'. A reporter or interviewer is going to ask Taylor the same question theyre going to ask Katy, etc. The samey-ness is perpetuated everywhere. If we were to ask a random person what they thought the artistic differences between the two are, I think we would be hard pressed to find differences
