I know her status at Nashville of course, and i also don't think she'll work with MM forever. What im thinking is , she may go back to her country roots in LP6 or LP7, but this is just not the right time for it. And regardless of what im thinking she'll work with him, all the indications shows this, so i try to make people be ready for that and support her, you can see all the negative reactions about MM, someone had to defend this decision, so i chose to defend it.
Yall forget her only real pop smash is IKYWT. 22 underperformed and WANGBT... well, you really want that to be her sound?
she needs to stay a multi-genre artist keeping her musicianship, songwriting and music instruments in the forefront.
In no way I want Taylor to become Britney. What I want to say it that:
1. I agree that country acts respect her and I don't think leaving country will make her less respectable. If she keeps singing songs having quality, she will still keep gaining respect.
2. Why do you think that one has to be anything but pop for an artist to survive and have longevity. Plus, Taylor will never go full Pop. By Pop, I mean the overall sound is mainstream but every song will have elements of different genre. Also by Pop, I don't mean bubble-gum pop but quality pop songs, Love Story is country-pop, IKYWT is pop etc, all of her songs are country-pop or pop if you see! She was never full country not full Pop. And she will continue to do so but instead of just country, she will try to include other genres into her 'Pop' songs and try to expand. And it's what Taylor is aiming at. She has her own genre and I don't I will ever doubt her music.
3. She will continue to stay a musician and make quality pop songs with other genres included in it. No one wants her to sing lyrics which Katy is singing. Taylor has her own genre and is never and will never be full country or pop. By more pop, I mean overall sound is pop and all the songs will have other genres including country..
the fact she's even being mentioned in the same way as Katy is worrying. There already is a Katy Perry. If Taylor worked for 8 years creating her own sound only to throw it to the curb to be another pop singer than she is dooming herself.
Nope, Africa has been here for her since Love Story.
Well actually, she's known here starting from Teardrops on My Guitar, i personally saw her first time while watching some music channel and seeing Teardrops On My Guitar music video, but i just didn't think of her such an important musician. During Fearless era, she was still known, of course not as much as Red, but she had some sort of minor star popularity here. But then during Speak Now era, she was just forgottten, until Safe & Sound. Wasn't this the same there ? Speak Now is a fantastic album, but it globally made less impact than both Red and Fearless.
You keep saying 'Taylor is no longer country/doesnt care'. You could not be more wrong. I'm not even going to begin but an ATRL stan from Turkey really has no clue about Taylor's place in Nashville.
Also, you really think her career can span decades, like she intends it to, with Max Martin pop songs? Logic evades the concept.
I agRIH with this tbh
Whatever genre she's going to try for the next record, the quality should be there. And working with MM will definitely cost some of these. Her style is what makes her unique all this time. Her MM songs can be sung by any other and still sound not much different.
And anticore, IMO this is not the best time for her to work with MM. Her MM songs are gaining her some extra global presence but they really hurt her image as a songwriter. Also I think global presence isn't really that important especially when she's already quite global before the red era so idk,
And her current situation in kuntry music industry is not much worse than Lord Carrie tbh.

.
If this is not the best time, then she won't ever work with him again. Her age, her popularity her image are perfect to peak as a 'popstar right now. ıf she doesn't do pop in these years, when she get old, it'll be even harder than today. But ı understand so many of the fans against MM, i don't judge you and i definitely understand your fears. I just disagree with those fears, that's just it Bottomline, we all want the best for Taylor, it's just how it'll happen differs for some of us

Agree. If she wants to do non-country I'd much prefer tracks like Haunted, Better Than Revenge on radio rather than the awful WANGBT which, as you said, lost her some respect.

yes but most her album sales are from longterm fans who know that they can get quality songs on the album that will never see radio. If she has like 8 pop songs then they will largely be disposable. There is a reason she sells albums and not 99 cent pop downloads like Katy Perry. The gp are just not interested in spending money on an album full of pop songs, they'd rather just buy the singles in that case.
WAITTT OMG I remember watching this when it was on a LOSING MY SH*T jumping around like holy sh*t that was so f*cking good.
My mom said when she first saw this she KNEW she was such a performer
