But really I agRIH.
TV/ Radio don't spin her singles (MM songs) more frequently than they do during the Speak Now era in Malaysia. Well maybe they charted higher on those irrelevant charts but those people who vote for MM songs aren't exactly the one who buys ablums anyway.
|
Kii. But k. I don't like them either. But it was one of them right?
And yah... It's sorta strange, considering that Asia usually eats whatever popular in Europe & US.
The TV stations here like to play whatever popular songs in their programs. They still abuse Stefani's "Applause" and the favourite of all, Katheryn. Fyi, they play Katheryn all the time even before "Roar" was out. And speaking of "Roar," it's also often talked by show hosts. But none of that happened with Taylor. Go figure.
Why those who vote don't even buy the singles usually... So.....

But yas. I say She can easily do 5 sold out shows in SG. Usually ppl from Malay, Indo, Thailand, and a few countries would flew there.

Two of my friends flew all the way to Singapore for the Speak Now tour. We made this 'lunch box' project which about 30 fans' letters had been written to Taylor. They left for the venue very early and got to meet Grant and hand the box of letters to him fortunately. Furthermore, they got a pit pass and got to touch the Lord Her holy hand, too.
And I've personally messaged Cornetto (Thailand) about the possible Red Tour in Asia and stuffs. They kind of confirmed it and asked me my name & phone number so that if they felt ready, I'd be the first one to be informed.
I'd love her to do a stadium show here. Hope these stupid anti-democracy protesters leave soon. They are not the majority of the country. People make a big deal out of small things.

But really? In my country, She's just as irrelevant as ever. After the half-hits that was "22". But even then with MM, She was not on the radio all the time like Gaga or Katy. So MM was pretty much useless too worldwide wise. Maybe he helped in Europe, but not so much in Asia I guess.
I can confirm this because I listen to radio whenever I'm driving, and last year I spent most of my time in Indonesia.
|
I was just kidding lol. Even IKYWT and 22 were flopped miserably here I mean I heard Red more than both in TV, the streets etc. *The smash that got away tbh*
The fan base keeps growing quickly since SN and now it's quite big, Red became the successful album but her singles didn't do really well here. I think it's kind of true that MM songs mostly made the impact in Europe.
When Speak Now the song was released it had a very positive reaction but never properly promoted. Still that song is more well-known than any SN singles in this country

WANEGBT was huge in Japan though. It is currently still #34 on Japan iTunes, 18 months after release. Japan is the biggest music market in Asia according to the IFPI.
IKYWT broke the UK market for Taylor. It was also Taylor's second biggest hit in the US ever with only Love Story outselling it. WANEGBT also went 4 Plat in the US.

All of Red singles including The Last Time went #1 on radio here. ("Everything Has Changed" being the biggest hit) When will your flop countries?

Lawd, the mess in your country made the news everyday here. I was starting to think whether it was that serious to worth all the airtime.
Also, I don't think She's big enough to pull stadiums in Asia.

So basically She has to thank SNSD for the popularity boost after all?
Media here only abuse WANEGBT for like two weeks then they dropped it altogether. IKYWT was a flop. All the hours I spent on the road, never once I heard radio spun it here. Mind you, I spent approx 4 hours on the road everyday. And it was just once in a while I heard "22." So now..... Max Martin is not just awful producer, shite songwriter... He's also pretty local. Such a triple threat.
The problem all along is not on the music, it's on the messy promo plan. So changing the music and gimmick planning is stupid, when they do nothing with what they are obviously lacking at.

Taylor is a positive polymath compared with X-Factor dolts: writing, singing, playing guitar, banjo, piano and dancing as if she actually enjoys it, rather than in the manner of someone who wants dollar bills stuffed into her hot pants.
|
Also it is funny how Taylor's 'surprised face' is now a pose she makes in photos with fans, showing how self-aware she is and has a sense of humour about it.

This Glamour article/cover was pretty well timed. She is getting pretty good press for a change. When most other pop stars are all about nudity and "in your face" sexuality people seem to find Taylor`s modesty refreshing.
Lord´s second Vogue cover is coming...

I cringe at the whole A, B, C, etc. doing this, while Taylor doesn't. Like, why should it matter? What makes Her so much better as a person that those who are openly hungry for fame? Admit it, She's a fameho Herself. She just doesn't make it as obvious.

Um, not really. She's more hungry for success than for fame imo. Like I think she gets more excited about Rolling Stone reviewing her concert/iTunes #1s/Grammys than the people talking about who she's dating/the paparazzi following her around everywhere. Yes, she obviously like fame, but that doesn't necessitate that she's a fameho. Like she doesn't try to attract attention to herself 'cause the cameras are always fixed on her anyway.

Also its hilarious how more respectable award shows like Grammy´s despise him for someone with such incredible back catalog of hits and impact. Katy Perry of hitmakers.

It's not about her being better as a person. It's about being taken seriously as a musician rather than someone becoming known for twerking. You want Taylor to leave a legacy as a serious musician? Don't twerk. Do play instruments and write your own songs.

Do tell. At least in the '90s he had some genuinely cute bops.

Girl. If She doesn't want to be over-exposed, or doesn't like fame as much as She used to anymore, or not that hungry for fame.... then why is Her butt PERCHING in LA?
And let's be honest news about Her dating are usually from US Weekly, the publication who has a deal with publicists.

And that is a gimmick as well. Just like anti-marketing being just another marketing strategy.
And Her shtick is that Her music is fully Her. Not a producer's or any of the creepy uncles hit factory.
But now that She's no longer using that gimmick (even though She's still acting like She does), She became such a joke Herself.
