I love JLo, but she's nowhere near a Legend and will never be one.

How many latinas were in the Hollywood spotlight before her?
How many latinas were paid more than 1 million dollars before her?
She is still the most well paid latina actress of all the time.
How many latinas were are considered by Forbes the most powerful celebrity or by People the most influential latina?
Jennifer Lopez opened the doors for many latin women in Hollywood
At a certain point she even changed the beauty stereotype in Hollywood.
And for all those who say Jennifer is local, both Jennifer and Shakira have the same amount of number one songs @ UWC and sold almost the same WW.

Being one of the first mainstream Latinas in America doesn't automatically make you a Legend. An icon for Latinas to look up to at most.

Can't speak for the rest of the world, but Shakira is not a legend in the US. Honestly, neither of them are, but I think JLO is more recognized and respected in the US.

J Lo is known only for her Pitbull songs. without him, she wouldn't be what she is now honestly... US only.

Shakira has been a Grammy-winning legend since her debut. And she's a worldwide star, her vevo views, facebook likes, sales,Golden Globe, Grammys[2 Grammys, 9 Latin Grammys, 12 Billboards, MTV EMAs, VMAs, 7 VEVO Certified, 4 World Music Awards.] show this too. And I really appreciate that she sticks with her sound & does music that she love, instead of selling out for dance club music. Even when she collabed with Pitbull[Rabiosa] she didnt change her sound, it was sill her style.

And she sings in Spanish:* and never gave that up...
And she has iconic songs like:

Jlo already is a legend. So many people on here are just looking at her music career. Shes been one of the most influential celeberties of the past decade or so. She was the first latina actress to be paid $1million paving the way for the likes of jessica alba, eva longoria, etc. she started the trend of female celebrities having all these product lines such as frangrances. Bennifer started the whole couple nickname trend. She was and still is considered a jack of all trades. She also started the trend of high profile overpaid pop star judges. Most watched youtube video for a female artist. She also made curvy women popular paving the way for beyonce, kim, nicki,etc. Not to mention her longevity she was a huge star in the early 2000s and still is a household name. Shakira is just a succesful pop star thats been around awhile but has no impact and is overshadowed by other pop stars from her generation such as britney, beyonce, pink, etc.
