Because people never learn. I said we were in the Age of Perry back in 2012 before PoM dropped, over on another forum. I didn't lie - this is her time, at least in the US. People will continue to doubt her and be proven wrong, it is what it is.

Actually, only ATRL really underestimates her. Because this is a forum of stans, and Katy obviously had very little stans from the very beginning, and her career heavily relied on the GP. She gets underestimated here, but gets quite the audience and distinction outside of these silly fan bases.

This! ATRL has never mattered outside of ATRL and will never matter. Katy will keep racking in that success as long as she's making good music and good decisions.
And why is that one Taylor fan always throwing himself at every wrong number? we get it. Your fave is successful.

Sorry if I was overtly harsh, but if you're going to make a statement, then you're gonna have to back it up by credible sources. You can't tell me shipments reported by labels are sales, and then expect me to agree. (And yes, he showed me his sources).

Yeah, I know my fave's successful. What does that have to do with wrong numbers? If I spot inflated, false receipts, I'm gonna say that they are inflated and false.

There's no such thing as a sales police. There are false receipts and there are credible receipts. If you spot false receipts, you should point them out and state why they're false. That's pretty much it.

I should also mention that shes the most followed person on Twitter, with over 50.1 million followers. She also has over 63.4 million fans on Facebook. Clearly people aren't tired of or over her.
People continue to underestimate every move she makes, but ultimately she ends up with the last laugh.

When did "people" say she was a one hit wonder after IKAG?
Unconditionally was a heavily-promoted second single, not a holiday buzz single.
If you want to make the case for her being underestimated, at least get your facts straight. Given her talent level and the themes of her music, I can see why some would expect her to be less successful. She doesn't sing particularly well. She & her writers don't write exceptionally (although quite good sometimes). BUT, She has a good team behind her and her music has wide appeal most of time. That, and she is very smart about how she interacts via social media.

I think all of this "she's not that talented" talk it's all subjective. Clearly millions of people across the world think she is. And this doesn't go for her only. Every single artist works his/her ass off to get where they are; some work harder than others, but that doesn't mean they don't work. And they all have talent, some more than others, but they all do.
In my opinion she is kind of underestimated. She knows what works for her, what will keep her interesting in the GP's eyes, so she sticks with it. No, she's not as fierce or as a diva as the other girls, but that only works on ATRL apparently. People go for the down-to-earth, real girl-next-door. It works for her and Taylor Swift, the biggest sellers out there right now.

One of the boys has sold 5m. Before the release of PRISM her album sales were 11M, and TD was at 6m+. If OOTB have sold 3M then TD sales are 8M? that sounds unreal. We have receipts... she is going to 14M albums sold
