My Dad hates Beyoncé. he thinks her whole act and persona is loaded with double standards and she constantly over-sings. Every single time something related to her comes on the TV, he turns all SYG on me. He's one of these real soul/RnB/reggae purists- Mary J Blige is his favourite contemporary-ish act.
He also thought Taylor Swift was Avril Lavigne, he laughed all the way through Katy Perry's X Factor performances, and he went to Madead her first ever live televised UK performance in some random club-night, where he said she was sh*t, untalented and lip-synced the way through it. It was a punk/rock club and the entire crowd dragged her.
I just remembered that me and my mom were making plans to go see Adele somewhere and then she had the surgery and my mom had the biggest meltdown ever, she was so excited, I felt so bad, she's a bigger Adele stan than me (no pun intended )

It's not that Katy Perry has a bad voice, it's just that 70% of the time she sounds horrible live.
She sounds decent 20% of the time. And she actually sounds good 10% of the time.
