It's not a lame excuse, it's cold hard fact.

You can't prove that people tuned it to watch Pink. It could easily be a coincidence that she performed as most people were watching the Grammys. (Notice the general bell curve of the ratings.)

But you can prove that her performance wasn't good, bad or interesting enough to get people talking about it. As usual, no one cares about Pink. She remains a B-lister.
